I’ve been curious about the Brydge keyboard for a long time, but held off as I waited for an updated iPad Pro to be released. A number of my favourite writers and podcasters – Federico Viticci, Myke Hurley, and Jason Snell in particular – swear by the Brydge keyboard for its adjustable hinge and backlit keys, turning the iPad Pro into a touchscreen laptop.
Last night, Brydge announced a new keyboard for the 2018 iPad Pro, and I think I’m finally going to get one to try. I am concerned that the Brydge will add too much extra bulk and weight to the iPad Pro, but the added adjustability, media keys, and “lapability” may outweigh the extra heft. No pun intended.
The new Brydge keyboard for the iPad Pro is slated to ship in early 2019. As soon as I can get my hands on the Brydge, you can expect a review right here.
